New in Version 6.1:
1. Supports a newly released data acquisition device,
the ReadyDAQ Model AD2012. The AD2012 is the first standard product
to take advantage of many new system capabilities, including sensor profile
synchronization. With sensor profile synchronization, all information
related to input scaling is programmed into the data acquisition device
and, similarly, embedded into configuration, data and graph files.
This greatly simplifies the deployment of devices, the management of configuration,
data, chart and sensor database files, as well as the distribution and
sharing of these files.
2. Device Calibration - new device models can now be calibrated
to maximize measurement precision. This calibration capability also
allows for OEM's to perform system calibration - the ability to calibrate
in engineering units specific to the integrated system - while maintaining
all of the flexibility provided by the sensor profile database that allows
end-users to configure input channels for scaling data for specific tasks.
3. Data file signature - data files now include a "signature"
that allows the software to detect tampering. The DataReady software
provides various options for manipulating data, such as scaling, statistical
summaries, adding notation and customizing charts; the data file signature
ensures that raw data is never modified or corrupted. This new capability
was added to support the needs of Valitec's customers and does not inhibit
the use of the products or the data collected by them.
4. Significant capabilities are added to support System
Integrators and OEM's for embedding of core data acquisition hardware and
software into their products and applications. Many of these capabilities
are not plainly visible during the normal use of a typical installation.
To learn more about these capabilities, contact a Valitec sales representative
at (937) 291-0250, or sales@valitec.com.

New in Version 6.0:
1. XML Import and Export (both configuration and data)
- The XML format is a human readable, self-describing format that is easy
to parse. By supporting the XML format, the data files can now be
easily read into other programs for further processing. Parsers can
be easily written in Java, C, C++, or Visual Basic. There are many
free XML parsers available. See http://xml.apache.org for the most
advanced XML parser.
2. Sensors are now stored in the configuration, data,
and graph files, as well as on the device (as indicated, for newer models
only). If a data file is sent to a different machine (or data is
downloaded on a different machine than the device was configured on) the
sensors that were used for that data file will still be present, retaining
the exact same scaling that was in place.
3. "Send" menu option - Allows you to email a configuration,
data file, or graph.
4. NOTES can be edited in data files - very useful for
posting or distribution of data files.
5. Higher resolution numbers placed on Clipboard when
data is copied from the data window.

VALITEC’S NEW VERSION OF STAND-ALONE DATALOGGER
-
OFFERS INCREASED CAPABILITIES
-
Affordable, Ease-to-Use AD128 Captures and Scales Data
-
for Many Practical Applications
-
DAYTON, Ohio -- November 18, 1997 -- Valitec, Inc. offers a newly upgraded
version of its dependable, pocket-sized data acquisition system, the AD128.
This new model in the AD128 family of products, designed for simple, thorough
data acquisition and analysis, now offers even more advanced capabilities
at an affordable price. The compact AD128 weighs only eight ounces and
measures 3.5 x 5.8 x 1.3 inches. It gets the job done accurately, providing
a quick and simple solution for capturing and analyzing sensor data and
other voltage signals.
-
The new AD128 combines the field-proven reliability of the original product
with powerful new features and offers remarkable capabilities for everyday
data recording and troubleshooting applications. The new features, created
in response to customer input, are based on 3 years of experience with
the original AD128 in laboratory, plant and remote data acquisition applications.
This makes the AD128 the easy-to-use, portable and low-cost instrument
of choice for many applications, replacing manual recording methods and
higher-priced instruments such as chart recorders, oscilloscopes and other
datalogging instruments.
-
Important new features include:
-
Trigger
or event-based recording
-
Recording begins when analog, digital or a combination of digital inputs
meet specified criteria
-
Provides for control system troubleshooting, conserves memory and captures
only useful data
-
Input scaling
-
Analog input signals can be scaled to any unit of measure
-
Features both user-defined and factory-defined sensor profiles
-
Utilizes sensor database to store unlimited input/sensor profiles, including
scale factors and units
-
High-quality
graph generation
-
Generates high-resolution, presentation-quality data plots with a single
mouse-click
-
Capabilities include scroll, zoom, annotate and export
-
Data statistics
-
View Min., Max., Avg., Std Dev. in numeric and graphical form for each
input channel
-
The new features of the AD128 are combined with the proven reliability
and inherent ease-of-use of the original product, making for truly simple
yet powerful capabilities. Input scaling and one button graph generation
complete Valitec’s "1-2-3" solution for easy data acquisition:
-
1. Simple form-based configuration/set-up
-
2. Single mouse-click data retrieval
-
3. Single mouse-click graph generation.
-
The AD128 was designed with the user in mind, and addresses the "learning/re-learning
curve" problem usually associated with data acquisition solutions. Recording
parameters are selected from a simple form-based operator interface that
eliminates the need to learn graphic or icon-based programming that is
often required with other data acquisition products.
-
The powerful Configuration and Analysis (C&A) software, included with
all Valitec data acquisition systems, runs on WindowsÔ 95, NT and
3.1 and ensures that data can be recorded and quickly downloaded into a
built-in spreadsheet. C&A Software enables users to quickly configure
the logging unit and immediately visualize and analyze data just recorded.
-
With the touch of one button, the logging unit is ready to sample up to
16 digital and 8 analog channels simultaneously. Despite its simplicity,
the system is powerful, with the capacity to store up to 130,000 readings
that can be sampled as fast as 500 times per second or as slow as one time
every 99 minutes. All readings are "stamped" with the date and time they
were taken, and the 10-year battery-backed data memory and software "interlock"
ensure that data won’t be lost or accidentally erased. In addition, all
inputs are protected to +/- 20 volts.
-
The AD128 is an affordable way to accurately record information. The new
AD128 package is available immediately and costs $799; this price includes
the full-featured software and accessories. Valitec offers discounts to
resellers, OEMs, universities and non-profit organizations.
-

###
Trigger-based
recording
-

-
Powerful capability:
-
troubleshoot and capture elusive problem causes
-
conserve memory, monitor over long periods of time - record only during
events of interest
Trigger-based recording - recording to memory begins when
a specified condition occurs:
-
Threshold (Analog)
-
Selectable for "going high" or "going low"
-
Level Transition (Digital)
-
Selectable for "going high" or "going low"
-
State of Multiple Digital Inputs
-
State Match - Recording begins when a "state" occurs. Up to 16 digital
inputs can be set up so that a desired combination of highs and lows triggers
a recording sequence; for example, "1001001110001110". A very useful feature
for troubleshooting or monitoring control systems.
-
State Change - Recording begins when a specified "state" of signals changes.
Up to 16 digital inputs can be set up so that recording begins when the
high and low state of the inputs changes; for example, when the state changes
from "0000000000000000" to "0000100000000000", a preset recording sequence
will begin.
(back)
Data
statistics in spreadsheet and graph for each input channel: Min,
Max, Avg, Std Dev
-
Data can be directly copied into any other program for analysis or presentation.
-
Alternately, data files can be stored in ASCII format for later use with
other programs.
-
Selected ranges or entire data files may be printed or exported.
-
Similarly, configuration files and graphs may be printed or exported.
-
Graphs may also be saved in bitmap (.bmp) or vector (.wmf) format. Vector
format allows post-processing, such as stretching and shrinking the image
in a MS Word or PowerPoint document while maintaining text, font and image
quality limited only by the resolution of the output device.
